Owned and managed by the Blevin family, together with their staff, Shayamoya exudes a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
It is an ideal venue for the whole family offering a variety of activities including kids entertainment. One of the special activities is the challenging sport of tiger fishing as this is the only water in SA home to these ferocios fighting game fish. On offer also are game drives, boat cruises, elephanting and rhino tracking.

THE SETTING - The cruise begins in the Northern area of the Lake where the Pongola River enters the lake which covers 15 000 ha. The lake is surrounded by Game Reserves, which are teaming with a large variety of wildlife and herds of elephant are a common sighting from the Shayamanzi decks.The magnificent Lebombo Mountain range rises up along the Eastern bank. In the Gorge, the Mountains tower over you, covered by beautiful indigenous forest and where the glo-flies make a spectacular show along the shoreline.
PONGOLA GAME RESERVE IS RECOGNISED BY BIRD LIFE S.A. AS A BIRDER FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT.
This African Colonial style lodge caters for the discerning nature lover, and its unique position on a ridge overlooking the Pongola River commands panoramic views of the reserve. It is the ideal place in which to relax and enjoy regular sightings of Hippopotamus, Crocodile and the many species of general game that are found in the reserve.
Accommodation is in 9 twin and 2 double en suite chalets all with air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar fridges, tea and coffee facilities and private verandas. The chalets combine comfort and simplicity with architectural use of stone, wood, reeds and thatch.
The central area of the lodge includes the Hippo Hole bar, TV lounge with DSTV, covered open plan lounge and dining area, boma, swimming pool and curio shop.
Private boat launching and jetty facilities are available.
Game viewing is the main attraction in the Imfolozi Game Reserve. Larger mammals to be seen include buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, elephant, and large numbers of impala, waterbuck, common and mountain reedbuck, nyala, kudu, bushbuck, steenbuck, duiker, warthog, black rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyaena and jackal. In excess of 300 species of birds have been recorded.
There are a number of picnic sites situated throughout the reserve as well as view sites, which make it possible to spend a day game watching. The camp is not fenced.
Imfolozi is in a malaria area and special precautions are necessary.
