The Graskop Hotel is centrally situated on the Mpumalanga Escarpment at the start of the Panorama Route. On our doorstep you have the famous Pinnacle Rock, God's Window and the historical town of Pilgrim's Rest. A short scenic drive takes you to Bourkes Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon, or the Kruger National Park. The Numbi Gate entrance is 52 kilometres from Graskop Hotel.
Away from the hustle and bustle, yet only 4 hours drive from Johannesburg International Airport is the Graskop Hotel, where friendly staff, a warm atmosphere and fresh flowers makes it an ideal place to unwind. The outside of the Graskop Hotel is pretty unassuming - but walk inside and you'll be greeted by the biggest private collection of contemporary African art in the entire country. Beaded chairs from Nigeria, pygmy beds from Cameroon, sculptures from Ivory Coast, body masks from Tanzania, carvings from Zimbabwe, baskets from South Africa.
Owners Harrie Siertsema, Willem van Bergen, Elva van der Meulen and Ellen Stroud have turned the Graskop Hotel into one of the funkiest spots in Mpumalanga - the hotel itself is a marvellous mixture of Seventies, Art Deco and contemporary African styles - and the place has become very popular with European travellers, particularly the French. It isn't hard to see why.
