A perfect retreat spot for avid bird watchers, with numerous challenging and scenic hiking trails crisscrossing the area, Glen Reenen rest camp is a charming staging ground for a relaxing trip in the park.
Accommodation at Glen Reenen is available in a series of double bedded rondawel units, accommodating four guests per unit, with one unit being wheelchair accessible. All units come equipped with kitchens, wash counters and showers.
The longdawel units have single beds, and are also available in wheelchair friendly options. One extra unit also comes fitted with braai (barbecue) facilities, a kitchen and television.
Basotho Cultural Village Rest Camp

Golden Hate Highlands national park, the gritty sandstone home to the Basotho cultural village rest camp, is an ideal environment for camping experiences out of the ordinary. Designed with a keen eye for the rich history of the area, Basotho Cultural Village surrounds guests with the vibrant cultures and traditions of Basotho civilisation. Guests can experience this culture’s day to day activities, appreciate their dress and customs, and watch video screenings depicting the creation of villages, huts and other artistic expressions of this rich and vibrant culture.
Basotho cultural village accommodation is available in three rondawels. Units have a communal braai lapa each, with verandas, weber braais (barbecues), and bathrooms.
Two-bedroom rondawels sleep four each, with one unit completed with wheelchair accessibility.
Highlands Mountain Retreat

Hinging on the edge of the Free State’s gorgeous Maluti Mountain range are 11 600 hectares of stunning highland terrain known as the Golden Gates Highlands National Park. An ecosystem unlike anything found in any other game park, the diverse cross section of bird and animal life found in this area alone could be tantalising to the enthusiastic camper, but with facilities such as the Highlands Mountain retreat, guests are ensured a magical getaway, tucked into the majestic mountain landscape.
Accommodation is provided in four cottages, with one bedroom and a double sleeper couch in the living area each, as well as en-suite bathrooms, televisions and fireplaces, and a verandah and braai (barbecue) area. Family-sized units are available for accommodation, fitted with one double bedroom and two single beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and wheelchair accessibility. Guest facilities include a log fired hotel pub, picnic site and braai (barbecue) facilities, a general dealer and filling station, curio shop, restaurant, coffee shop and ladies' bar.
