Day 1 - Thamalakane River Lodge (Maun - Botswana)

Thamalakane River Lodge is nestled in a grove of riverine trees on the banks of the river of the same name. It is perfectly situated for visitors either on a self-drive holiday in Botswana who wish to visit the Moremi Game Reserve and as it is only a 20min drive from Maun International Airport, there is no better lodge for a first of final stopover to the Okavango Delta. Maun, the tourist capital of Botswana, is a short 15min drive away.

The lodge's idyllic setting is emphasized by their commitment to excellent service. Facilities include a library and a curio shop. The restaurant has magnificent views of the Thamalakane River and diners can order meals from their 'a la carte' menu. There is a fine selection of wines to complement your meal. Drinks can also be requested from the horseshoe-shaped bar where there are selection of bar stools and sofas to relax on. The Terrace is a popular outdoor dining-area and sundowner venue, with teak tables and armchairs arranged on a shady flagstone terrace for your comfort.

Day 2, 3 and 4 - Xakanaxa Lodge

Its prime location on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve ensures that it is one of the only safari camps which can provide guests with an authentic, year round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience. The owner, Mr Wolfgang Burre, is one of the founding fathers of Botswana's photographic safaris. Together with the staff of Xakanaxa Camp he has endeavoured to maintain the classic safari charm that makes any journey to Xakanaxa a memorable one. As one of the very first lodges to be established in the Okavango Delta, this small and personal safari camp is still one of the Okavango favourites; due to its superb location, fantastic game viewing, friendly service and authentic safari style.

Big game, big birds, big water – Xakanaxa Camp, one of the Okavango Delta's most authentic safari camps. The Moremi Reserve is rated as one of Africa’s finest game-viewing areas, offering sanctuary to abundant herds of elephant, sable, giraffe, tsessebe, lechwe, wildebeest, impala and waterbuck. Day 5, 6 and 7 - Camp Savuti

Camp Savuti is a small intimate camp accommodating a maximum of 10 guests in comfort and style creating a new type of “luxury camping” in a public campsite. To further enhance the experience the pre-erected tents have been placed to ensure privacy and a modest level of exclusivity. At Camp Savuti 5 meru tents have been placed on platforms overlooking the Savuti Channel. The tents are large, spacious with en-suite facilities and an open shower almost identical to the type you would encounter at most luxury camps/lodges in Botswana.

The guest area consists of a intimate lounge, bar and dinning area overlooking the Savuti Channel. A game drive vehicle with guide is on hand to show guests the wonders of nature that abound in the Savuti area.

Day 8, 9, 10 and 11 - Mowana Safari Lodge

100km west of Victoria Falls, this luxury safari lodge overlooks the perennial Chobe River and Caprivi floodplains. Spectacularly sited on the Chobe River, close to Chobe National Park, yet easily accessible by air, Mowana Safari Lodge stands at the point where four countries meet and provides the perfect setting for any Southern African experience. Guests will experience true comfort, superb accommodation, fine cuisine, and excellent personalized service.

107 luxury ensuite bedrooms, which face the Chobe River and affords their guests breathtaking views of glorious sunsets across immense tracts of bushveld. Guests have a choice of either double room, twin bedded rooms, family rooms, executive rooms, paraplegic rooms or feature suites. Each of the rooms has been intricately furnished with African inspired furniture and fabrics, while the double beds are draped with canopy mosquito nets. Air-conditioning has been installed in all the rooms and they also come equipped with satellite television, mini bars, hairdryers and appliances for guests to prepare their own tea and coffee. The bathrooms, which also boast an African theme, offer separate hand painted basins.

Victoria Falls

A natural phenomenon and one of the seven natural Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls is an immense curtain of water cascading over 100m.

Around 550 million litres over the lip every minute, at peak flow this increases to 750 million litres.

Around the Falls is rainforest sustained by the spray of the Falls with some plant species rarely found elsewhere in Zambia or Zimbabwe. During peak flow (January to June) the Zambian side of the Falls is the most spectacular and there are walkways to look out points and across the swaying Knife Edge bridge.

Day 12 - Home

Back to civilisation.
